Palestinian men climb a section of Israel’s separation barrier, known to them as the Apartheid Wall, as they try to avoid crossing Israeli-controlled checkpoints to reach the al-Aqsa Mosque for Jumu’ah prayers during the holy month of Ramadan, in the Old City of Jerusalem, July 26, 2013.

Palestinians avoid waiting at checkpoints - often crowded and time-consuming - where possible as it is common for them to be detained for hours with no explanation, humiliated or denied access altogether.

The wall, which runs through the West Bank allowing Israel to steal Palestinian land and disrupt the lives of thousands of civilians, is illegal under international law.
